Click to enlarge Welcome to the ALERT Basic Training page. The following information, along with the list of FAQ, will answer questions you may have concerning the gear required for Basic Training and M-Team at the International ALERT Academy—and will hopefully reduce the time you spend shopping.

Since ALERT began in 1994, the men have put many brands of equipment to the test through the high demands of ALERT training. Though many product brands are available, the men consistently prefer and recommend only a select few. As a result, we opened a store on the ALERT campus in July 1997 with the goal of providing high-quality equipment at competitive prices for the men in training. Today, we specialize in the gear that has met or exceeded the rigorous demands of the ALERT Program.

Click to enlarge This website offers all the products available at the outfitters on campus. For those entering ALERT, we have compiled a list of suggested items that we recommend for Basic Training. Each item includes a link with additional information about the product. The list makes shopping for quality merchandise quick, easy, and satisfying. In addition, the page is easily printed for further review and price comparison. Those who order items prior to Basic Training may choose to have us hold their order until they arrive at ALERT, thus saving shipping costs.

Click to enlarge On-site customer service is an added benefit to purchasing gear through ALERT. Occasionally, even the best equipment has a factory defect or may not be exactly what is needed, and we can offer immediate assistance when these problems arise. When men buy items elsewhere in preparation for Basic Training, we may be unable to assist them if a problem develops with that gear. Such was the case with one young man who entered Basic Training with a backpack that was not properly fitted for him and was causing him to lose his balance while running. There was nothing we could do to correct the problem. Another ALERT man reported the stitching on the side of his boots was slowly coming undone. Since he had purchased the boots from us, we replaced them with a new pair, and he continued his training without interruption or inconvenience. Even during the rigors of Basic Training, the men have opportunity to visit the store for items they may have forgotten to purchase or have found they need.
